Trek Madone SSL 6.9 - Making History Again - Tuesday 1st August, 2006.
July was a pretty good month for Trek. No things didn't turn out so great in France. After seven years of Trek OCLV Carbon domination at the Tour de France, a brief day in yellow was the best Trek could do. Still, Trek did what they always have done provide the team with the latest race bikes developed and built in Wisconsin. Unlike previous years when only Lance Armstrong would get a new bike, this year Azevedo, Popovych, Hincapie and Salvoldelli were given exclusive use of the new 2007 Madone SSL 6.9 and Trek were stoked to see Popo ride his in for a big win on stage 12. The big news with the Trek Madone SSL 6.9 is that it is the first bike made using ultra-high modulus carbon. Trek has made yet another leap forward in the history of carbon fibre bikes by now producing a sub-900 gram, non-sloping top tube bike. The Trek Madone SSL 6.9 will be available this Autumn.
