One of our early models, GAP, was dedicated to the victory of the never forgotten BASSO who won the world championship in 1972. Some people still remember his sprint on the arrival line. Since then, “BASSO racing bikes” is not a pubblicitary statement, is a reality and a goal.

The Basso concept of innovation stands for: continual research for technical improvement, quality, and style with respect for the environment. To this day, we draw upon the origins of our Company---competition---to innovate and improve our bicycles. And, even though bicycle design has evolved, we have never deviated from the great tradition of offering exclusively handcrafted bicycles made in Italy by artisans trained in classic Italian frame making.

BASSO PAINT JOB

All painting is performed in-house, never outsourced. This is the final stage of a process that started out as raw metal tubes or carbon fabric right in the same factory. You won’t find high volume, conveyor belt automatic painting at Basso. Each of our aluminum and steel frame receives the same quality of individual hand spraying by master painters, regardless of price range. First, the entire frame is treated with anti-corrosion material and primer. The beautiful color is produced from up to five layers of the finest European paint.
Our carbon fiber frames are treated with a special anti-UV ray resin material that also protects against superficial scratches that could damage the fibers. Next, the frame gets three additional layers of elite quality paint. All of this extraordinary care fortifies your frame against the sun and helps your bike to look fresh and impressive for many years.

Half a Century in Cycling

J E James Cycles is one of the largest independent cycle retailers in the UK with large bicycle stores in Sheffield, Chesterfield and Rotherham. We are a family run business and in 2010, J E James Cycles will have been established for 50 years. To celebrate half a century in cycling we will be launching a series of promotions throughout the summer of 2010, where there will be many bargains across our bicycle product range.

Bikes

J E James Cycles stock a wide selection of bicycles across all cycling categories including road bikes, commuter bikes, BMX, Mountain Bikes, XC, downhill, electric bikes and folding bikes. Most cycles can be bought in store and online, although there are exceptions with certain bike brands, where the bicycle can only be collected in store. These bikes are clearly labelled online where the bike is added to the shopping basket.

Prior to dispatch, all full sized bicycles are assembled and inspected by our qualified Cytech mechanics. These bikes will then be partially disassembled and placed in a cycle box ready for shipping. On receipt of your bike some assembly will be required, which may include attaching pedals, front wheel, seat pin, handle bar and stem. Single speed kid's bikes and BMX bikes will be shipped by J E James Cycles as they are received from the manufacturer. Customer assembly will be required.
